LaunchScaler and Product Hunt solve different parts of a launch. Product Hunt is a free, one-day launch in front of a large community, where upvotes, comments and editorial featuring decide how many people see you; LaunchScaler scans your site against 156 checks before listing it, keeps the listing permanently in category and search, and gives one followed link only to sites that pass.
Most products can use both, on separate days. Below is the fact table for the two models, what each costs, who decides your visibility, what stays after day one, and a sequence for running both launches. Product Hunt's terms were checked on its own launch guide and help centre in September 2026.
How do LaunchScaler and Product Hunt compare?
The biggest differences are what happens before you are listed and what is left after the day. Product Hunt lists any live product and decides featuring on the day; LaunchScaler checks the site first and keeps a permanent listing whatever the votes do. The table sets the two models side by side.

Who decides your visibility on each platform?
On Product Hunt, two things decide it: an algorithm and an editor. Product Hunt says the homepage leaderboard "changes throughout the day based on the number of upvotes, comments, time since submission, and other factors," and it will not publish the details because that would make it easier to game. Separately, not every launch is featured on the homepage.
Featuring follows Product Hunt's published guidelines. A featured product scores well on at least one of four criteria (useful, novel, high craft, creative), and Product Hunt notes that featured launches often spike in one or two rather than all four. It does not feature waitlisted products unless immediate access is provided, directories or lists, templates, boilerplates, courses, services and several other formats, and it avoids "minimal, undifferentiated products that seem primarily focused on immediate monetization." Unfeatured posts stay in the All feed under "See all of today's products," where they can still collect comments and upvotes. The guide to a Product Hunt launch that was not featured turns each criterion into a check.
Two practical points follow from that. A strong Product Hunt day needs people who arrive early and leave real comments, because comments and time since submission both count. And a product in a format Product Hunt does not feature, such as a template or a service, will sit in the All feed however good the day goes, so check the list before you schedule. Product Hunt also says reaching out about featuring is rarely necessary and that extra context does not guarantee a product will be featured.
On LaunchScaler, the daily board is a fresh leaderboard every day, and products climb it on community votes. The readiness score shown on each card is measured separately; the launch board says it "can never be voted up or bought." LaunchScaler's public pages describe no editorial featuring step; what the scan decides is whether the listing's link is followed.
What does each launch cost?
Product Hunt costs nothing. Its guide says "It's 100% free to use," and it warns against paying anyone to hunt or send traffic to your product: that goes against its guidelines, can get the product removed, and can get you permanently banned. Product Hunt also sells advertising separately from launches.
LaunchScaler has a free route and a paid one. The free launch gives "your listing from the day the queue reaches you," with LaunchScaler's badge on your site or a one-time fee to skip it. The Premium launch is $29 one-time: any open day, today included, the listing written for you from your own scan, and nothing to put on your site, because paying skips the badge. Neither route buys the followed link; the pricing page says "The followed link still needs a pass."
What stays after launch day?
On Product Hunt, the launch page becomes part of a permanent product page that shows every launch, reviews, awards and related news, and Product Hunt encourages makers to claim it with "Claim this page" or "Request access to manage this page." It also offers badges for your site: a featured badge, awards and a review badge. Its launch guide says nothing about whether the link to your site is followed.
On LaunchScaler, the listing is permanent in category and search, with an About section and pros and cons written from your own site and a community thread. A Premium listing stays in the permanent curated index after its standing on the board decays. The one dofollow backlink depends on the site passing the scan. The comparison of the best launch platforms puts these terms next to Uneed, BetaList, SaaSCity and Show HN.
Which launch fits your product?
Product Hunt fits a product that other makers and early adopters will try on the day, launched by someone who can be present for 24 hours and bring people to comment. LaunchScaler fits a maker who wants a listing and a followed link that do not depend on one day's votes, or who needs a specific date without building a following first.

Yes, on separate days, with the readiness work first. Neither platform publishes a rule about launching elsewhere, but both reward being present all day, so give each its own date and leave a few days between them. Product Hunt's clock is fixed at 12:01 am Pacific; LaunchScaler's Premium launch can take any open day around it.
Two weeks before, run LaunchScaler's readiness scan and fix what it flags. The same fixes (working signup, fast pages, correct link previews) matter for Product Hunt visitors.
Create your Product Hunt account now if you do not have one; new accounts wait 1 week before posting.
Schedule Product Hunt as your main day, up to 1 month ahead, at 12:01 am Pacific. Product Hunt's own advice is that "the best day to launch is the day on which you're most prepared."
Book the LaunchScaler launch at least three days before or after, never on the same day. Before suits you if you want a live listing to point people to; after suits you if you want to reuse the Product Hunt feedback in your listing and replies.
On each day, share the link and ask people to visit and comment. Product Hunt's rule is explicit: "you cannot ask people directly to upvote your product."
After both, claim your Product Hunt product page and check your LaunchScaler listing, then read signups by source to see which day sent the users who stayed.
Book the LaunchScaler day with Premium
To fit LaunchScaler around your Product Hunt date, the Premium launch is $29, paid once. It books any open day, today included, writes the listing for you from your own scan, and puts nothing on your site because paying skips the badge. The listing stays in the permanent curated index after its standing decays, and the dofollow link still needs your site to pass the readiness scan. Get Premium and pick the day, or choose the free launch on the same page if the queue's date works for you.
02
Is Product Hunt free and is LaunchScaler free?
Product Hunt says it is 100% free to use. LaunchScaler's free launch costs nothing and asks for its badge on your site or a one-time fee to skip it; its Premium launch is $29 one-time and books any open day.
03
Can I launch on both LaunchScaler and Product Hunt?
Yes, and on separate days. Run LaunchScaler's scan a couple of weeks before, make Product Hunt your main day at 12:01 am Pacific, and put the LaunchScaler launch a few days before or after so each day gets your full attention.
04
Can I ask people to upvote my launch?
Not on Product Hunt, which says you cannot ask people directly to upvote and should ask them to visit and comment instead. On LaunchScaler's board products also rank on community votes, while the readiness score on each card cannot be voted up or bought.
05
What stays after launch day on each platform?
Product Hunt keeps a permanent product page that collects every launch, reviews and awards. LaunchScaler keeps a permanent listing in category and search, and a Premium listing stays in its curated index after its standing decays.
SaaSCity's free plan needs its badge and a 210-day queue; Quick Pass is $19.99. LaunchScaler's free launch needs a badge or fee; Premium is $29, any day.
Uneed's free line waits 30 days to 5 months and ties the link to upvotes; LaunchScaler ties it to a site scan. Queues, prices, links and reviews compared.
LaunchScaler, Uneed, BetaList, SaaSCity, Show HN and Reddit ranked by what each leaves you: a lasting listing, a followed link and visitors, with prices.
