Privacy Policy

LaunchScaler is a URL-only readiness scanner and a free product directory. This policy explains, in plain terms, what that means for your data. It is a working template for a product in development, not legal advice, and it will be reviewed by counsel before any public launch.

Last updated: 24 July 2026

01What we collect

Two things, and only when you choose to give them. When you run a scan, we collect the URL you enter and the public data our scanner reads from that page. Nothing else is asked for. When you create an account to list a product, claim a listing, or subscribe, we collect your email address and the listing details you provide (name, category, links, description).

Browsing the directory and running a scan require no account. We do not ask for, store, or process payment card numbers ourselves. Payments are handled by our processor (see Sharing and processors).

02How scans use URLs

A URL is the only input a scan needs. Our scanner fetches the page the way a browser and a crawler would, reads the public HTML, and derives the readiness signals from what is actually served. It does not log into anything, submit forms, or access non-public areas of your site.

Scan results (the readiness score and the evidence behind each check) are tied to the domain, not to you personally. If you list a product, that standing becomes part of its public listing.

03Cookies and analytics

We use first-party product analytics (PostHog, proxied through our own domain so your browser never contacts a third-party host directly) and Google Analytics on public pages to understand how the site is used. We don't sell your data or run third-party advertising trackers.

Analytics cookies stay off until you accept them. On your first visit, a banner lets you accept or reject. Only strictly-necessary cookies that keep the site working are set before you choose, and if you reject, none of the analytics cookies are set and nothing is sent.

04Connecting Google Search Console

If you connect Google Search Console to a website you own, we ask Google for one read-only permission and nothing else: the ability to view Search Console data for the sites you have already verified. We cannot change your property, submit or remove URLs, or touch anything else in your Google account.

We read the search queries, impressions, clicks and Google-reported average position for the site you connect, and we use them for one purpose: to show you how that site is doing and to suggest article topics based on searches you already almost rank for. We store that data against your account so the numbers and the plan stay available between visits.

Your Google credential is encrypted before it is stored, is never shown back to you or to anyone else, and is used only to refresh the connection. Disconnecting removes it. We never sell this data, never use it for advertising, and never share it with other users or third parties.

05Data retention

Scan results for a public listing persist as long as the listing exists, with the date each was last verified, so nobody is judged on a stale number. Account data is kept while your account is active. Ephemeral scans run without an account are not tied to an identity and are retained only as long as needed to render the report.

You can delete your account and its associated listing data at any time (see Your rights).

06Sharing and processors

We do not sell personal data. We share the minimum necessary with the infrastructure providers that run the service: hosting and compute, database and authentication, product/observability analytics, and (for paid plans) a payment processor that handles card details directly so we never see them.

Each processor is bound by its own data-processing terms. Public listing content (product name, category, standing) is, by design, public.

07Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under GDPR and CCPA), you can request access to the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or export it. You can also object to or restrict certain processing.

To exercise any of these, contact us and we will respond within the timeframe your local law requires.

08Contact

Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to support@launchscaler.com. We will route your request to the person who can actually act on it.
