The best time to launch on Product Hunt is 12:01 am Pacific Time, the first minute of its 24-hour day, and the best day is, in Product Hunt's own words, "the day on which you're most prepared." Weekdays bring more competition: across 14 days of leaderboards in September 2026, the number one product averaged about 509 upvotes on weekdays and about 313 on weekends.
So the choice is a trade-off between a busier day and an easier leaderboard, and only the time is fixed. Below are Product Hunt's own guidance, 12:01 am Pacific converted to other time zones, the day-by-day leaderboard numbers, and a plan for the first hour.
What time should you launch on Product Hunt?
Launch at 12:01 am Pacific. Product Hunt's homepage runs on a 24-hour cycle in Pacific time, and its launch guide says "12:01 am Pacific Time is the best time to launch for makers that are planning ahead." A post that goes live then has the full day to collect comments and upvotes before the leaderboard resets.
The leaderboard itself "changes throughout the day based on the number of upvotes, comments, time since submission, and other factors," so the start of the day matters: a launch posted at noon has lost half its day. You do not need to be awake to press a button at midnight. Product Hunt's preparation guide says you can schedule your launch up to 1 month in advance, and the default time it suggests is 12:01 am.
Two details trip people up. Product Hunt's guide calls the cycle "Pacific Standard Time," but in summer the Pacific zone is on daylight time (PDT), and the day still starts at midnight local Pacific time. And new accounts must wait 1 week before posting a product, so a launch planned for next Tuesday needs an account that already exists.
What is 12:01 am Pacific in your time zone?
It depends on the season, because the US, Europe and Australia change their clocks on different dates. In 2026, Pacific time is on daylight time (UTC-7) until 1 November and on standard time (UTC-8) after it. The table converts 12:01 am Pacific using the IANA time zone database.

What time should I launch on Product Hunt?
At 12:01 am Pacific Time. Product Hunt runs on a 24-hour cycle in Pacific time, and its launch guide calls 12:01 am the best time for makers planning ahead, because a launch then gets the whole day.
Watch the gap weeks. Europe moves its clocks back on 25 October 2026 and the US on 1 November, so for that one week London sits 7 hours ahead of Pacific instead of 8, and the launch starts at 7:01 am London time. Sydney moves forward on 4 October. If you schedule inside a changeover week, check the conversion for that exact date.
For a maker in Europe or Asia, the timing is kind: the launch starts in your morning or afternoon, and the US evening arrives while you are still around. For a maker on the US East Coast, the launch starts at 3:01 am, so the scheduler matters more than the alarm clock.
Which day of the week is best for a Product Hunt launch?
Product Hunt's answer is "The best day to launch is the day on which you're most prepared," and it publishes no traffic figures by day. What you can see is the leaderboard. Reading Product Hunt's daily leaderboards for the 14 days from 13 to 26 September 2026, weekday launches needed far more upvotes to reach the top spots than weekend ones.

Averaged, the number one product had about 509 upvotes on the 10 weekdays and about 313 on the 4 weekend days. Fifth place averaged about 224 on weekdays and about 143 at weekends, and tenth place about 119 against about 101. The spread is widest at the top: a weekend needs roughly 60% of the weekday votes to take first place, while the entry to the top ten barely moves.
Treat these as one fortnight's sample, not a law. Individual weekdays varied widely (344 on one Wednesday, 640 on one Friday), because a single product with a large following can set the bar for its day. Product Hunt also says every upvote counts the same, "maker upvotes count more" is a myth, and that its algorithm weighs comments and timing as well as upvotes.
Weekday or weekend: which should you choose?
Choose a weekday if your network is large and you want the most people on Product Hunt to see you. Choose a weekend if your network is small and a top-five finish matters more to you than the size of the audience. Product Hunt does not publish how much its traffic drops at weekends, so the audience side of the trade-off is an assumption; the competition side is measured above.
Your situation
Better day
Why
Large mailing list or following ready to comment
Tuesday to Thursday
More competition, but a bigger day and your network can carry you
Small network, want a top-five badge
Saturday or Sunday
The number one product averaged about 313 upvotes at weekends against about 509 on weekdays

Whatever the day, keep it clear of your other voted launches. A Product Hunt day needs your full attention, and splitting it with another platform halves both.
What if someone posts your product before your date?
Then your timing is no longer yours, and you have two choices. Product Hunt's launch-day questions page says that if someone else launches your product first, you can ride the momentum and treat it as free marketing, or contact its support team through the chat widget straight away and ask for the post to be removed before your official launch.
Decide quickly. The leaderboard counts time since submission, so a post that has been up for hours is already partway through its day. If your assets, list and first comment are ready, riding the existing post's momentum may serve you better than waiting weeks for your scheduled date. If they are not, ask support to remove it and keep your plan.
How do you plan the first hour?
Be ready before 12:01 am Pacific and be present for the first hour. The first hour sets up the day: the first comment appears, your list gets the link, and early comments start the conversation the leaderboard counts. Product Hunt's guide lists the first comment as part of the launch itself: 70% of products that won Product of the Day, Week or Month had one from the maker.
The day before, confirm the schedule time shows 12:01 am and your assets are final. The Product Hunt launch checklist lists every field.
At 12:01 am Pacific, post your maker comment: why you built it, who it is for, and what feedback you want. Ask for feedback, not upvotes.
Within the first 15 minutes, send the launch link to your email list and co-makers. Ask them to visit, try it and leave a comment. Product Hunt's rule is that "you cannot ask people directly to upvote your product."
Post the link on your own social accounts with one line about what you built.
Reply to every comment as it arrives, and keep replying all day.
Open your analytics and error logs, because the first visitors are the first to hit a broken signup form.
The rest of the day follows the same rhythm, and the launch week plan lays it out hour by hour. For the submission itself, the fields and the rules, see how to launch on Product Hunt.
Pick a launch day you control elsewhere
Product Hunt's clock is fixed, but your other launches do not have to be. LaunchScaler's Premium launch is $29 one-time and books any open day, today included, so you can put your LaunchScaler day a few days before or after Product Hunt without waiting for a queue. It writes the listing for you from your own scan and puts nothing on your site, because paying skips the badge; the dofollow link still needs your site to pass the readiness scan. Get Premium to choose the date, and see LaunchScaler vs Product Hunt for how the two launches fit together.
Product Hunt's own answer is the day on which you are most prepared. Weekdays are more competitive: across 14 days in September 2026, the number one product averaged about 509 upvotes on weekdays and about 313 on weekends.
03
Is it better to launch on Product Hunt on a weekend?
A weekend needs fewer upvotes to rank near the top, based on the leaderboards from September 2026, so it can suit a smaller network. Product Hunt does not publish traffic by day, so there is no official figure for how many fewer visitors a weekend brings.
